This is the second book in the series and definitely dives more into the characters than the first which I loved. With practically everyone on the run no one is to be trusted and some family reunions are more dreaded than others. There were good twists in this story, the author definitely doesn’t tip their hand until the twist is right on top of you I truly enjoyed getting a multiple character perspective of what was happening because you definitely need everyone’s point of view to understand the situations fully. I’m excited to read the next book and hopefully wrap up that crazy ending!
I loved this book just as much as the first one! The beginning was a bit slow but it allows you to get to know all of the new characters and builds up to the tense scenes that make you un able to put the book down. I won't give any spoilers but there are a couple of twists that I did not see coming! And the way it ended.... I need the third book to answer my questions that I have about what happens to Audrey!
Despite this not being my preferred genre, my attention was kept the entire read. Our main characters are well developed, with enough complexity and flaw to make us long for them to have a happy ending and for them to be better people. Nico especially is a character you want to root for, and then he reminds you he's a mob boss and you're disappointed. The plot is fairly straightforward and easy to follow across multiple time skips. World building is solid as well, with the reader having a clear picture of the set pieces Nico and Prima perform on.
